The creation of websites can be conditionally divided into 3 stages:
Planning;
Design;
Development.
PLANNING
This stage itself can be divided into several sub-stages:
Idea generation;
Project structure development;
Project mockup creation.
IDEA GENERATION
At this stage, the topics of the project (website, service) need to be determined. Then, according to the selected topic, relevant materials (text, graphics, etc.) should be collected.
PROJECT STRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT
Once the project topic is chosen and the necessary materials are collected, the next stage is developing the project structure. The project structure refers to the appropriate site sections where the navigation menu will be formed and the design will be built. At this stage, the materials can be classified according to topics and sections.
PROJECT MOCKUP CREATION
After creating the project mockup, you can move directly to the design mockup. At this stage, it is worth starting with determining the color palette of the project.
One of the methods to determine the main color in the project is to create a mood board. For this, write down all synonyms related to the project topic, then search for each synonym on Google or Yandex images. Based on the images found, choose the color that appears most frequently. The selected colors will form the visual perception of the project and evoke appropriate emotions in the user.
Often, the main page elements include: a content block (wrapper, container), logo, navigation, content, footer, and whitespace (essentially free space – not a design element itself, but a concept to keep in mind when creating the page layout, so the project doesn’t appear cluttered, overloaded, or messy).
On a page, the container’s role can be directly fulfilled by the body or a div element. The width of the content block can be either fluid (responsive) or fixed.
The text or graphic element that makes a project stand out among others. The logo is often placed in the upper left corner or at the center of the page (depending on the layout or concept).
The main navigation panel contains links to the key sections of the website. The navigation panel is usually located at the top of the page, depending on whether the navigation elements are arranged vertically or horizontally.
Content is the main component of a web page. It plays a central role in page design, therefore it occupies a large space and is reinforced with graphics alongside text.
This element is located at the bottom of the page and usually contains information about the copyright holder, contact and legal information, links to main site sections (often duplicating the main navigation), social media links, feedback forms, and other content.
After creating the project mockup, you can directly proceed to designing the visual layout. At this stage, it is worth starting by determining the project’s color palette.
One method to choose the main color for the project is to create a mood board. To do this, list all synonyms related to the project’s theme, then search for images of each synonym on Google or Yandex. Based on the collected images, identify the color that appears most frequently and select it. The chosen colors will form the visual perception of the project and evoke the appropriate emotions in the user.
